Building blocks by Alessia Belsito-Riera
Brick by brick, LEGO® are the building blocks of many childhood memories. From epic adventures through space to intrepid explorations into the past, fantasy realms to the wonders of the world, LEGO have always been more than just simple interlocking pieces… they’re our imagination incarnate.
Celebrate your love for the endless possibilities of LEGO on the 14th and 15th of September, when the Wellington LEGO® User Group (Well-LUG) brings their annual show to the Walter Nash Stadium in Lower Hutt.
The Wellington Brick Show is the largest display of LEGO brick builds in the region. The 2024 celebration will feature more than 160 exhibitors – many with builds designed especially for this event – hailing from Auckland, Christchurch, and Otago, alongside Well-LUG members from Hawke’s Bay, Wairarapa, Whanganui, and Palmerston North.
The fun, accessible, and entertaining Wellington Brick Show is looking at a jam-packed programme of events, workshops, and guest speaker panels this year alongside competition games like the mini-fig hunt, raffles, food trucks to keep you fuelled all day, and the opportunity to see jaw-dropping builds.
There will also be plenty of hands-on ways for attendees to get involved. Four collaboration exhibits where builders can come together to work on one huge piece will feature at this year’s show. The Friend’s collaboration in particular promises to be extraordinary in its scope and scale.
Over the past 10 years, Well-LUG has donated thousands to various charities, with a portion of this year’s proceeds going to St Joseph’s, Akatarawa Forest, and Carterton Scout Group. Wellington Brick Show is a family-friendly and inclusive fundraising event that strives to create an experience that is uplifting for everyone. With this in mind, this year’s festivities will bring back the low sensory hour option, which will run before doors open from 8am to 9am on the 15th.
Reignite your imagination and get stuck in at the Wellington Brick Show.
