Jokes, drinks, and bites by Harry Bartle

World-class laughs are coming to Greytown this July! Part of this year’s Festival of Christmas, Cocktails & Comedy will combine possibly the three best things around – comedy, food, and a drink. The shows will be held every Thursday in July, with a different comedian presenting an evening of belly-laughing entertainment at The White Swan each time.

Presented by Blackwell & Sons, the evenings include a sumptuous two-course dinner and a Greytown gin cocktail that marries elderflower, lemon, and rosemary. The inspiration behind this exciting comedy series is quite delightful.

“Mrs Blackwell loves laughing more than anyone else I know, so I really had her entertainment in mind when we came up with the Cocktails and Comedy nights idea”, owner of Blackwell & Sons Adam Blackwell laughs.

“We try and weave a sense of humour into most of our business communication online and in our stores, so it makes sense for Blackwell & Sons to get in behind quality comedy in Greytown.”

Set to perform next to the Swan’s roaring fireplace on the 21st is Kiwi comedian Andrew Clay [pictured]. A top funny man for over two decades, Clay is known for delivering incredible shows both in New Zealand and across the world. Having performed everywhere from combat zones to prisons, cancer wards to cruise ships, The White Swan is another venue he’ll happily add to the list.

The other performers in the Cocktails & Comedy series are Dads on the Town (Greg Ellis and Steven Youngblood) on the 7th and Jeremy Elwood on the 14th, before Raybon Kan closes things off on the 28th.

Guaranteed to combine brilliant jokes, drinks, and bites all at once, any Cocktails & Comedy event promises to involve something everyone can enjoy.
