Spheres of sun and soul by Madelaine Empson

Grab your sunnies: New Zealand music icon Ladi6 is brilliant, blinding, and back with a brand-new single, set down for release on her birthday. On November the 7th, join eager fans in welcoming Alofa into the world. One week later on the 14th, head to the vibrant celebrations with this visionary Kiwi artist at San Fran.

Well known for her authentic and innovative approach to music, Ladi6 draws inspiration from her own experiences and Samoan heritage to craft heartfelt songs that resonate with listeners, offering a refreshing perspective in the spheres of soul, pop, and electronica. With its infectious melody, vibrant blend of Kraftwerk-esque breakbeat synth electronica, dreamy arpeggio synths, and soulful vibrations, Alofa is no exception.

Of the uplifting yet poignant track, Ladi6 says she “wanted to create a song that expressed the devastation of relationship breakups while simultaneously creating an atmosphere of musical resonance that expresses a kind of joy and peace in the transition of knowing you did the best you could and that’s all you can hope for, and that is enough... you tried.”

With a hip-hop history as founding member of Aotearoa’s first all-women hip-hop crew Sheelahroc, a passion for storytelling, and a commitment to self-exploration, the Like Water singer makes a unique mark on the music industry. The stamp continues on the Alofa: The Heartbeat Tour, where Ladi6 will be joined by her long-time collaborators and Alofa producers Brent ‘Parks’ Park-Tamati and Brandon ‘Bharu’ Haru.
