Sunshine on a cloudy day
We’re not sure about you, but we can’t quite believe it’s nearly Christmas! It seems like only yesterday that we were wrapping up warm in our beanies, mittens, and scarves to brave Welly’s notorious sideways rain. Now, it’s officially summer, and we can almost smell the saussies sizzling in the air as BBQ season begins.
All of us here at Regional News are so thrilled to have spent another year supporting local creators, artists, innovators, businesses, charities, and the like. As we ourselves face cost increases left, right, and centre, we know that 2024 has not exactly been easy. We continue to storm through the challenges and sideways rain because we believe our beautiful city and surrounds are filled with amazing people who deserve to be celebrated. Whether it’s a new band grinding it out on the underground scene, a playwright about to tour their work overseas, a hairdresser woven into the fabric of their neighbourhood, or the café that became a suburban institution, it brings us joy to feature the people who call and make Wellington home.
We know it’s easy to get stuck doomscrolling, so we hope we’ve brought a bit of sparkle into your lives this year. Thank you in turn for reading and supporting Regional News, which helps us keep filling our pages with all the good stuff.
We’re off on holiday for a month, with our office closing on the 13th of December. Then we jump right back into the thick of it, with our first issue of 2025 out on the 14th of January. Until then, enjoy the sunshine!
