Till death do us part by Alessia Belsito-Riera

This September the 28th, bear witness to the joining of two souls in macabre matrimony at Old St Paul’s. In Wedlock: A Drag Affair, two of Wellington’s most lascivious lovers will become one in a fully immersive theatre experience… till death do them part.

A production unlike any Wellington has ever seen from award-winning producer Willy SmacknTush, Wedlock: A Drag Affair brings together an ensemble cast of the capital’s most infamous performers to take you through a haunting tale of love, lust, drama, and drag. Starring Vixen Temple, Eddie D’amore, Faux Femm, Robin Yablind, Slay West, Braiden Butter, Myrtle Montgomery, Homer Neurotic, Allikins, and Booth the Clown, these morbid nuptials will be officiated by drag king Willy SmacknTush himself.

Old St Paul’s timber gothic revival architecture lends itself perfectly to Wedlock: A Drag Affair’s twisted and tumultuous tale. As part of the Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga Rainbow List project, which aims to improve the diversity of the New Zealand Heritage List/Rārangi Kōrero by recognising places of significance to Aotearoa’s LGBTQIA+ communities, this show will be the first time drag has ever been performed in the venue.

“We are so proud to be making history as the first drag artists to perform in such a majestic venue,” Willy says. “When Heritage New Zealand got in touch asking to collaborate on an event, we immediately agreed that hosting a drag wedding would be iconic.”

Get hitched to Wedlock: A Drag Affair for better or for worse, to love and to cherish.
